Fighting out of Jakarta, Indonesia, WKF Indonesia Champion “The Terminator” Sunoto, 33, has competed in ONE Championship 10 times. His 11th bout in the promotion will take place at the Guangzhou Tianhe Gymnasium in Guangzhou, China at “ONE: Battle for the Heavens” on July 7, 2018.
At “ONE: Battle for the Heavens,” Sunoto will compete against ONE Championship debutante Shuya “Stealth” Kamikubo, 25, of Japan in the bantamweight division. Currently reigning as the ONE Bantamweight World Champion is Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes, 38, of Brazil.
In 2015, Sunoto signed with ONE Championship and has since put on many thrilling displays. The Jakarta native won 7 out of his 10 bouts in the promotion.
The last time Sunoto lost in the cage was on December 2, 2016 when he was knocked out by Edward “The Ferocious” Kelly of the Philippines at “ONE: Age of Domination.” After the loss, the Indonesian fighter redeemed himself with a four-bout winning streak, defeating Cambodian fighters Chan Heng and Rin Saroth, Malaysian fighter Hisyam “Zephyrus” Samsudin and Filipino fighter Roel “Akiyama” Rosauro.
Originally from East Java, Sunoto moved to Jakarta in 2012 to pursue his martial arts dreams. He first started training in taekwondo as a child but soon picked up other disciplines while travelling around Indonesia to compete in several tournaments.
Aside from becoming a regional sanda champion, Sunoto also currently holds the rank of brown belt in traditional Japanese Jiu-Jitsu. He is a member of the Indonesian national sambo team, belying his growing all-around skills that his Indonesian fans are expecting to see at “ONE: Battle for the Heavens,” which will be headlined by Yodcherry Sityodtong, 19, of Thailand and Kai Ting “Killer Bee” Chuang, 23, of Chinese Taipei for the inaugural ONE Super Series Kickboxing Atomweight World Championship.
