Fighting out of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Keanu Subba, 24, has been competing in ONE Championship since 2015. A featherweight bout between him and a Chinese opponent has been booked for “ONE: Pursuit of Power.”
Taking place at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, “ONE: Pursuit of Power” marks Subba’s seventh ONE Championship bout. He will face Xie Chao of China in the fifth bout of the evening.
All of Subba’s previous ONE Championship bouts took place in Kuala Lumpur except his third bout in the promotion, which took place at the Hefei Olympic Sports Centre in Hefei, Anhui, China. At “ONE: Dynasty of Champions,” he lost to The Underdog” Li Kai Wen, 22, of Hunan, China unanimous decision, marking the Malaysian contender’s first loss in the promotion.
Subba’s ONE Championship debut took place at “ONE: Tigers of Asia” at the Stadium Putra, where he knocked out Florian Garel of France via elbows. The Kuala Lumpru native’s second, fourth, fifth and sixth bouts in the promotion took place at Stadium Negara.
In Subba’s second, fourth and fifth ONE Championship bouts, he defeated his fellow Malaysian fighter Rayner “King Karabaw” Kinsiong and Pakistani contenders Waqar Umar, 27, and Ahmed “Wolverine” Mujtaba, 25, respectively. But in Subba’s fifth bout in the promotion, he lost to Christian “The Warrior” Lee, 20, of Singapore.
All of Subba’s ONE Championship wins were a finish in the first round. He is now one of the most highly regarded featherweight prospects in ONE Championship while his older brother Gianni Subba, 25, is one of the top flyweights of the promotion.
Keanu is a former Malaysian Invasion Mixed Martial Arts (MIMMA) Featherweight Champion. He became interested in MMA in 2005 after watching a reality TV show that centered on the sport.
