Fighting out of Parana, Brazil, Istela Nunes, 25, has just earned her second victory in ONE Championship. On July 7, 2018, the Brazilian mixed martial artist defeated her Filipino opponent at “ONE: Battle for the Heavens,” which took place at the Guangzhou Tianhe Gymnasium in Guangzhou, China.
“ONE: Battle for the Heavens” featured seven MMA matches and three striking-only bouts under ONE Super Series. In the fourth bout of the evening, Nunes battled it out with of Gina “Conviction” Iniong, 28, of Baguio City, Philippines.
With Yuji Shimada as the referee, Iniong and Nunes competed in the women’s atomweight division. After three five-minute rounds, the referee raised the hand of the Brazilian contender as the winner via unanimous decision.
After beating Iniong at “ONE: Battle for the Heavens,” Nunes improved her professional MMA record to 6 wins and 1 loss. On the other hand, Iniong’s record downgraded to 6 wins and 4 losses.
Nunes is training out of Team Nunes and American Top Team. “ONE: Battle for the Heavens” marked her third outing in ONE Championship.

In the co-main event of the evening, Reece “Lightning” McLaren, 26, of Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia competed against Tatsumitsu “The Sweeper” Wada, 29, of Kofu, Yamanashi, Japan in the flyweight division.
In the main event, Yodcherry Sityodtong, 19, of Thailand and Kai Ting “Killer Bee” Chuang, 23, of Taiwan competed for the inaugural ONE Super Series Kickboxing Atomweight World Championship.
