Filipino-Australian mixed martial artist Reece “Lightnight” McLaren, 26, has been competing in ONE Championship since 2015. Fighting out of Sydney, Australia, he recently won in the promotion for the fifth time.
On July 7, 2018, McLaren outperformed his Japanese opponent at “ONE: Battle for the Heavens,” which took place at the Guangzhou Tianhe Gymnasium in Guangzhou, China. It was the Filipino-Australian contender’s seventh bout in the competition.
With Olivier Coste as the referee, McLaren competed in the flyweight division against Tatsumitsu “The Sweeper” Wada, 29, of Yamanashi, Japan at “ONE: Battle for the Heavens.” It was the ninth and co-main event of the evening.
After three five-minute rounds, the flyweight bout between McLaren and Wada was left in the hands of the judges. Coste raised the Filipino-Australian fighter’s hand as the winner via split decision.
By defeating Wada at “ONE: Battle for the Heavens,” McLaren improved his professional MMA record to 12 wins and 5 losses. On the other hand, Wada’s record downgraded to 19 wins and 9 losses.
