Fighting out of Iloilo City, Iloilo, Philippines, Robin “The Ilonggo” Catalan, 27, has earned his third victory in ONE Championship. On July 7, 2018, the Ilonggo mixed martial artist defeated his Indonesian opponent at “ONE: Battle for the Heavens,” which took place at the Guangzhou Tianhe Gymnasium in Guangzhou, China.
“ONE: Battle for the Heavens” featured seven MMA matches and three striking-only bouts under ONE Super Series. It kicked off with an MMA bout between Catalan and Adrian “Papua Badboy” Mattheis, 25, of Jakarta, Indonesia.
With Olivier Coste as the referee, Mattheis and Catalan competed in the strawweight division. The referee out a stop to the contest when the Filipino fighter submitted his Indonesian opponent via heel hook at 2:10 of Round 2.
After beating Mattheis at “ONE: Battle for the Heavens,” Catalan improved his professional MMA record to 8 wins and 3 losses. On the other hand, Mattheis’s record downgraded to 5 wins and 4 losses.
Catalan is training out of Catalan Fighting Systems Philippines. “ONE: Battle for the Heavens” marked his fifth ONE Championship bout.

In the co-main event of the evening, Reece “Lightning” McLaren, 26, of Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia competed against Tatsumitsu “The Sweeper” Wada, 29, of Kofu, Yamanashi, Japan in the flyweight division.
In the main event, Yodcherry Sityodtong, 19, of Thailand and Kai Ting “Killer Bee” Chuang, 23, of Taiwan competed for the inaugural ONE Super Series Kickboxing Atomweight World Championship.
