It has been almost two years since British-Malaysian mixed martial artist Peter Davis, 36, competed. On July 8, 2018, the former joined other ONE Championship athletes in an open workout at Concourse of Lot 10 in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
“Martial arts has been a huge part of my professional career,” Davis said during the event. “I have been with ONE Championship since the very beginning and I am proud to have represented Malaysia.”
Fighting out of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Davis lost to Shannon “OneShin” Wiratchai, 29, of Bangkok, Thailand at “ONE: Unbreakable Warriors” on September 2, 2016 at the Stadium Negara in Kuala Lumpur. Also an actor and a model, Davis has yet to return to the cage since the loss.
During the open workout, there was no announcement on Davis’s next ONE Championship outing. Instead, he said, “I am happy with what martial arts has become, and I will continue to lend my skills and talents into making sure martial arts in Malaysia has a very bright future.”
The open workout was hosted by former ONE Championship superstar Ann “Athena” Osman, 32. Davis and fellow ONE Championship athletes and Malaysian MMA fighters Gianni Subba, 25, Keanu Subba, 23, and Agilan “Alligator” Thani, 22, demonstrated martial arts techniques to members of the media and gave them an inside look at a normal day in an athlete’s training camp.
Thani and Keanu are scheduled to compete in separate bouts at “ONE: Pursuit of Power” on July 13, 2018 at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur. The latter will compete in the featherweight division against Xie Chao of China.
In the main event of “ONE: Pursuit of Power,” Thani compete in the welterweight division against Zebaztian “The Bandit” Kadestam, 27, of Sweden. Both are former ONE Welterweight World Champion title challengers.
Before Wiratchai, Davis faced Adrian “The Hunter” Pang, 40, of Australia at “ONE: Tigers of Asia.” Here is a clip from the bout:
