Due to an injury, Gianni Subba, 25, will not be competing at “ONE: Pursuit of Power” at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on July 13, 2018. It is his younger Keanu Subba, 23, who is competing in the second ONE Championship event in Malaysia in 2018.
On July 8, 2018, Gianni and Keanu were among the ONE Championship athletes who met with the media in an open workout at Concourse of Lot 10 in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur. Hosted by former ONE Championship superstar Ann “Athena” Osman, 32, the media open workout also featured Malaysian athletes Peter Davis, 36, and Agilan “Alligator” Thani, 22.
“It’s an honor and a privilege for me to be here in front of you all today, sharing with you my life’s greatest passion which is martial arts,” Gianni told the media. “Martial arts isn’t just a sport for me, it’s a way of life. It guides me every day and I am here to share with everyone that you can try this too.”
Gianni has been competing in ONE Championship since 2012. He currently holds a professional mixed martial arts record of 9 wins and 3 losses.
“It’s a great way to get the most out of your physical and mental capacity,” Gianni said. “Although I am not competing this time due to injury, I will be here to support my brother Keanu all the way on July 13.”
In the main event of “ONE: Pursuit of Power,” Thani will compete in the welterweight division against Zebaztian “The Bandit” Kadestam, 27, of Sweden. The former is looking to follow up his victory on March 9, 2018 at “ONE: Visions of Victory,” the first ONE Championship event in Malaysia in 2018.
“ONE: Visions of Victory” also took place at the Axiata Arena. Watch a recap of the event by Michael Schiavello and Mitch “The Dragon” Chilson here:
