After going on hiatus for almost a year, Malaysian mixed martial artist Keanu Subba, 23, is returning to the cage. Prepared and excited, he will face Chinese fighter Xie Chao in the featherweight division at “ONE: Pursuit of Power” on July 13, 2018 at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
“I am so happy to be back, competing in the world’s largest martial arts organization,” Subba said. “I have worked extremely hard over the past year, and I am now at a hundred percent coming into my next bout.”
“ONE: Pursuit of Power” will be headlined by Subba’s fellow Malaysian MMA fighter Agilan “Alligator” Thani, 22, and Swedish dynamo Zebaztian “The Bandit” Kadestam, 27, who will compete in the welterweight division. On July 8, 2018, Subba and Thani were among the Malaysian MMA fighters who met with the media in an open workout.
Hosted by former ONE Championship superstar Ann “Athena” Osman, 32, the media open workout also featured athletes Peter Davis, 36, Gianni Subba, 25, the older brother of Keanu. It took place at Concourse of Lot 10 in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur.
The ONE Championship athletes demonstrated martial arts techniques to the members of the media. They also provided them an inside look at a normal day in an athlete’s training camp.
“I’m always happy to represent Malaysia on the global stage of martial arts competition, and I can’t wait to show everyone my improvements,” Keanu said. “It’s going to be an epic evening, that’s for sure. I’m ready to go to battle once again.”
Currently, Keanu holds a professional MMA record of 5 wins and 3 losses, which he aims to improve by outperforming Xie at “ONE: Pursuit of Power.” Meanwhile, here is a recap of “ONE: Visions of Victory,” which also took place at the Axiata Arena:
