The “Fight of Champions” boxing event of MP Productions took place at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on July 15, 2018. Four title bouts were on the card.
One of the belts at stake was the then vacant Interim World Boxing Association Featherweight Championship. The contenders for the title were Jhack “El Capitan” Tepora, 25, of Cebu City, Philippines and Edivaldo “Indio” Ortega, 28, of Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico.
Tepora has been competing professionally since 2012. His first 20 bouts all took place in the Philippines and were all against a fellow Filipino boxer.
“Fight of Champions” marked the second time Tepora competed outside the Philippines. On September 22, 2017, he competed at the Orient Theatre in East London, South Africa where he won the then vacant World Boxing Organisation Inter-Continental Featherweight title by knocking out Lusanda Komanisi.
By winning at “Fight of Champions,” Tepora improved his professional boxing record to 22 wins and 0 loss. On the other hand, Ortega’s record downgraded to 26 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw.
In the main event of “Fight of Champions,” Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao, 39, of General Santos, South Cotabato, Philippines challenged reigning World Boxing Association (Regular) Welterweight Champion Lucas “La Maquina” Matthysse, 35, of Trelew, Chubut, Argentina.
