Brave Combat Federation president Mohammed Shahid recently had a meeting with His Excellency Alfonso A. Ver, Ambassador of Philippines to the Kingdom of Bahrain. This is good news to Filipino fight fans who have been waiting for a Brave CF event to be held in their home country.
Brave CF was founded by His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, a member of the Bahraini royal family Al Khalifa. The Bahrain-based mixed martial arts promotion has featured athletes from the Philippines in events hosted in several countries around the world including Bahrain, Brazil, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.
On June 9, 2018, reigning Brave CF Bantamweight Champion Stephen “The Sniper” Loman, 23, successfully defended his belt from Frans “The Black Mamba” Mlambo, 27, of Dublin, Ireland at “Brave 13: European Evolution” in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
It was Loman’s first title defense. This and the exposure received by Filipino Brave CF athletes prompted the fans to demand a Brave CF event in the Philippines, which is also home to newly crowned World Boxing Association Regular Welterweight Champion Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao.
Shahid recognizes the contribution of Loman and Pacquiao in the promotion of combat sports. The Brave CF president stated, “The historic title defense by the youngest champion in Brave Combat Federation, Stephen Loman and the return of the legend, Manny Pacquiao ushers the golden age of combat sports in the Philippines where you see the continuous pursuit for excellence from the youngsters while the legends never cease to inspire and mesmerize not just Philippines but the whole world.”
According to Shahid, Brave CF is committed to nurturing the sport of MMA countries like the Philippines. He added that the promotion “will be working towards the goal of creating a global eco-system for the sport and offer more opportunities for fighters, economy and growing relations.”
Loman is a member of the famed Team Lakay, a world-class MMA gym based in Baguio City, Philippines. He is the youngest Brave CF champion to defend his championship.
