On October 6, 2018, Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, 31, of Thailand will defend his World Boxing Council (WBC) Super Flyweight World Champion title from Iran “MagnifiKO” Diaz, 44, of Mexico at “ONE: Kingdom of Heroes.” To promote the event, ONE Championship partnered with Nakornloung Promotion (NKL).
“I am very deep in preparations right now for one of the most significant bouts of my career,” Sor Rungvisai shared. “The possibilities with ONE Championship and Nakornloung Promotion (NKL) however are endless and I’m looking forward to the next chapter of my career.”
The WBC Super Flyweight World Championship bout between Sor Rungvisai and Diaz will be the main event of “ONE: Kingdom of Heroes,” which will take place at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand. It will be ONE Championship’s first ever boxing match.
“I am excited to showcase my skills at home in Bangkok,” Song Rungvisai said. “As a world champion boxer, this is a rare opportunity for me to be able to compete in front of my people. I thank ONE Championship for the honor, and I will do my best to retain my title.”
Also the reigning The Ring Junior Bantamweight Champion, Sor Rungvisai holds a a professional record of 46 wins, 4 losses and 1 draw. He a great representative of ONE Championship as he “embodies the fiery willpower of Thai martial arts,” according to ONE Championship chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong.
“This is going to be the biggest event in Thailand’s history, and with thousands of fans expected to come out and cheer for their hero, I can’t wait to witness greatness unfold in the ONE ring,” Sityodtong said. He added that Sor Rungvisai is “the perfect athlete to introduce the sport of boxing to the largest martial arts organization in the world.”
