PHOTOS: ‘ONE: Reign of Kings’ press conference, post-fight conference in Manila, Philippines

The third ONE Championship event to take place in the Philippines in 2018 was titled “ONE: Reign of Kings.” The press conference took place at the City of Dreams Manila in Parañaque, Metro Manila on July 24, 2018.

Leading the panel at the press conference was ONE Championship chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong. The other panelists were reigning ONE Featherweight and Lightweight World Champion Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen of Australia and Vietnam, Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon of the Philippines, Shinya “Tobikan Judan”  Aoki of Japan, Shannon “OneShin” Wiratchai of Thailand, Renzo Gracie of Brazil, Yuki “Sora” Kondo of Japan, former ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard “Landslide” Folayang of the Philippines and Aziz Pahrudinov of Russia.

Joshua “The Passion” Pacio of the Philippines and Pongsiri “The Smiling Assassin,” who were scheduled to compete at “ONE: Reign of Kings,” were also present during the press conference. Other ONE Championship athletes were not on the fight card but attended the event to support their fellow fighters were reigning ONE Flyweight World Champion Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio, of the Philippines, reigning ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon “The Truth” Vera of the Philippines and Rika “Tiny Doll” Ishige of Thailand.

Several showbiz journalists joined the press conference to interview Vera, who recently starred in the action thriller film “BuyBust.” He was with his co-star Mara Lopez.

During the press conference, ONE Championship launched the exclusive ONE Championship Super App launch sponsor in the Philippines in partnership with Globe Telecom. Present to witness the official sealing of the partnership were Globe chief commercial officer Albert de Larrazabal, Globe’s Content Business Group senior vice president Nikko Z. Acosta, City of Dreams Manila senior vice president and chief operating officer Kevin Benning, Games and Amusements Board chairman Abraham Kahlil B. Mitra.

Fari Salievski and Mark Sangiao accompanied their fighters, as well. The former is the trainer of Nguyen while the latter is the head coach of Team Lakay, which Belingon, Folayang, Pacio and Eustaquio are representing.

Vera and Eustaquio were not the only ONE Championship world champions who attended the “ONE: Reign of Kings” fight night at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila in the evening of July 27, 2018. Reigning ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes of Brazil and ONE Women’s Strawweight “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan of China were also in the audience.

A post-fight conference followed immediately after the 11 matches on the card. Some of the winners briefly met with the media starting with Gracie, who defeated Kondo.

Next up were Pacio and Folayang, who defeated Mitsatit and Pahrudinov, respectively. The Filipino fighters were accompanied by their fellow Team Lakay fighters namely Eustaquio, Edward “The Ferocious” Kelly, Danny “The King” Kingad and former ONE Featherweight World Champion Honorio “The Rock” Banario.

The last part of the post-fight conference was an interview with Sangiao and Belingon, who was crowned the new ONE Interim Bantamweight World Champion by defeating Nguyen. Here is a clip from the post-fight conference:
