Fighting out of Brazil, Samara “Marituba” Santos, 25, is ready to challenge Reigning ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan, 30, of China at “ONE: Beyond the Horizon” on September 8, 2018. Three days before the fight night, they had their face-off at the CHAR Bar & Grill located at Level 30 of the Indigo Hotel in Shanghai, China.
“I am thankful for the opportunity to join ONE Championship and compete for the ONE Women’s Strawweight World Championship,” Santos stated. “Xiong Jing Nan is an incredible champion and I thank her also for accepting my challenge in front of all her hometown fans.”
Santos will make her ONE Championship debut at “ONE: Beyond the Horizon,” which will take place at the Baoshan Arena in Shanghai. A former Salvaterra Marajo Fight Strawweight Champion, she has gained solid experience competing largely in her home country of Brazil for the majority of her career.
“Right now, I have upset on my mind,” Santos declared. “I will climb into the ring this Saturday night and score the biggest victory of my career. This is my chance and my time.”
“I have prepared very well for this and I’m in the best shape of my life,” the Brazilian ONE Championship debutante added. “Winning the title won’t be easy, but I’m ready to do whatever is necessary to achieve victory. See you all in the ring.”
Over the past three years as a professional mixed martial artist, Santos established a record of 12 wins, 5 losses and 1 draw. Among her victories are six wins by submission.
