Riding a five-bout winning streak, former ONE Featherweight World Champion Honorio “The Rock” Banario, 28, of Mankayan, Benguet, Philippines will compete in the ONE Championship cage for the 14th time at “ONE: Beyond the Horizon.” If he wins, it will be his eighth victory in the promotion.

“ONE: Beyond the Horizon” will take place at the Baoshan Arena in Shanghai, China on September 8, 2018. In the co-main event, Banario will look to record his sixth consecutive victory when he faces top Singaporean lightweight contender Amir Khan, 23.

Khan is representing Evolve MMA in Singapore. He currently holds a professional mixed martial arts record of 10 wins and 3 losses.

Representing Team Lakay in Baguio City, Philippines, Banario holds a professional MMA record of 13 wins and 6 losses. A win for him at “ONE: Beyond the Horizon” will definitely push him into the ONE Lightweight World Championship picture.

“If I win this fight, and in decisive fashion, it will already be my sixth-straight win,” Banario stated. “If I can leave Shanghai with my hands raised in victory, then yes, I believe it puts me another step closer to a world championship opportunity.”

Banario previously defeated three compatriots in ONE Championship, namely Andrew Benibe, 42, Eric “The Natural” Kelly, 36, and Vaughn “The Spawn” Donayre, 38. The other opponents the Team Lakay fighter conquered in the promotion were Eddie “The Magician” Ng, 32, of Hong Kong, Rajinder Singh Meena, of India, Jaroslav “Jarda” Jartim, 25, of Czech Republic and Adrian “The Hunter” Pang, 41, of Australia and Papua New Guinea.

Currently, ONE Championship’s lightweight division is one of the deepest, with a roster of contenders hungry to get their hands on two-division titleholder Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen, 29, of Australia and Vietnam. Two of the division’s top contenders are former ONE Lightweight World Champion Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki, 34, of Japan and former ONE Lightweight World Championship contender Ev “E.T.” Ting, 29, of New Zealand and Malaysia.

Aoki and Ting have already been booked in a title-eliminator match at “ONE: Kingdom of Heroes” in Bangkok, Thailand on October 6, 2018. The winner will get the opportunity to challenge Nguyen in 2019 possible in Japan.
