For the second time, “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan, 30, of Shandong, China successfully defended her belt as the reigning ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion. On September 8, 2018, she and her challenger headlined “ONE: Beyond the Horizon” at the Baoshan Arena in Shanghai, China.

It was Samara “Marituba” Santos, 25, of Para, Brazil who challenged Xiong at “ONE: Beyond the Horizon.” It marked the Brazilian challenger’s ONE Championship debut.

The ONE Women’s Strawweight World Championship bout between Xiong and Santos was the ninth bout of the evening. Referee Olivier Coste put a stop to the bout at 1:22 of Round 3 when the Chinese champ knocked out her Brazilian challenger.

By defeating Santos at “ONE: Beyond the Horizon,” Xiong improved her professional mixed martial arts record to 13 wins and 1 loss. It was her fourth consecutive win in ONE Championship.

When Xiong made her ONE Championship debut at “ONE: Warriors of the World” on December 9, 2016, she knocked out April Osenio, 24, of the Philippines via punches. The Chinese fighter returned to the cage on January 20, 2018 for the inaugural ONE Women’s Strawweight World Championship at “ONE: Kings of Courage.”

Xiong captured the very first ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion belt by knocking out Tiffany “No Chill” Teo, 28, of Singapore via punches at “ONE: Kings of Courage.” This made the Shandong native the second world champion of ONE Championship, following reigning ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion Angela “Unstoppable” Lee, 22, of Singapore.

On June 23, 2018, Xiong competed in the ONE Championship cage for the third time. She successfully defended the title for the first time by defeating her challenger Laura “The Gladiadora” Balin, 38, of Argentina via unanimous decision at “ONE: Pinnacle of Power.”

Lee is expected to be Xiong’s next challenger. It was previously that the Singaporean champ will challenge the reigning ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion at “ONE: Heart of the Lion” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore on November 9, 2018.
