EVOLVE MMA’s Amir Khan earns 11th ONE Championship victory

Representing EVOLVE MMA of Singapore, Amir Khan, 28, has earned his 11th win in ONE Championship. In his most recent bout, he defeated his Filipino opponent.

On September 8, 2018, Khan competed in the lightweight division in the co-main event of “ONE: Beyond the Horizon” at the Baoshan Arena in Shanghai, China. He faced Honorio “The Rock” Banario, 28, who is representing Team Lakay of Baguio City, Philippines.

Referee Kemp Cheng put a stop to the lightweight bout between Khan and Banario at 4:34 of Round 1. The Singaporean fighter submitted his Filipino opponent via rear-naked choke.

By defeating Banario at “ONE: Beyond the Horizon,” Khan improved his professional mixed martial arts record to 11 wins and 3 losses. On the other hand, Banario’s record downgraded to 13 wins and 7 losses.

Khan is representing EVOLVE MMA of Singapore. “ONE: Beyond the Horizon” marked his 13th bout in ONE Championship.

On the other hand, the bout against Khan at “ONE: Beyond the Horizon” was Banario’s 14th ONE Championship bout. The loss to the EVOLVE MMA fighter ended the Team Lakay fighter’s five-bout winning streak.

As for Khan, he is now riding a two-bout winning streak. The last time he lost a ONE Championship bout was at “ONE: Quest for Gold” on February 23, 2018 when Timofey Nastyukhin, 28, of Russia defeated him via unanimous decision.

After losing to Nastyukhin, Khan redeemed himself at “ONE: Unstoppable Dreams” on May 18, 2018. He knocked out Sung Jong Lee, 32, of South Korea via punches.

Banario is the second ONE Championship opponent Khan defeated via rear-naked submission. The first one is Vaughn “The Spawn” Donayre, 38, who is also a Filipino.

Fighting out of the Philippines, Donayre lost to Khan at “ONE: Defending Honor” on November 11, 2016. It was the Singaporean contender’s sixth ONE Championship victory.

Aside from Banario, Lee and Donayre, the other opponents Khan defeated in ONE Championship were Jian Kai Chee, Waqar Umar, Bashir Ahmad, Jimmy Yabo, John Chang, Rajinder Singh Meena, Jaroslav Jartim and Adrian Pang.
