Three elite martial artists are making their respective debuts in ONE Championship’s striking-only league ONE Super Series at “ONE: Beyond the Horizon.” One of them is Hakim Hamech, 25, of Lyon, France.
“ONE: Beyond the Horizon” will take place at the Baoshan Arena in Shanghai, China on September 8, 2018. In the second bout of the evening, he will compete in a Muay Thai bout against Yukinori Ogasawara, 26, of Tokyo, Japan in the strawweight division.
“I’m extremely excited to finally be part of the ONE Championship family and get the chance to showcase my talents on the ONE Super Series stage,” Hamech said. “This is the big leagues, and I’m ready to show that I’m here to be the best.”
Hamech is still relatively young, but he already has a wealth of experience in Muay Thai and kickboxing. The Lyon native is a former two-time world champion in Muay Thai and possesses an impressive record of 42 wins and 8 losses.
The French fighter is a veteran of promotions such as K-1 and Glory of Heroes. He is finally be taking his talents to the biggest martial arts stage in the world.
Welcoming Hamech to ONE Championship will be his Japanese opponent, who is a Muay Thai star. While the French martial artist is making is ONE Super Series, Ogasawara is coming off his successful debut in ONE Championship’s striking-only league.
Ogasawara made his ONE Super Series debut at “ONE: Pinnacle of Power” on June 23, 2018. He knocked out Rui Botelho, 23, of Portugal in Macau, China.
Headlining “ONE: Beyond the Horizon” will be reigning ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan, 30, of China and Samara “Marituba” Santos, 25, of Brazil. In the co-main event, Amir Khan, 28, of Singapore and former ONE Featherweight World Champion Honorio “The Rock” Banario, 28, of the Philippines will compete in the lightweight division.
