Filipino police officer Crisanto “The Slugger” Pitpitunge, 31, has signed to return to Brave Combat Federation to compete in the “Brave 16.” Training at Team Lakay in Baguio City, Philippines, the bantamweight fighter is one of the first fighters from his country to have signed with the Bahrain-based mixed martial arts promotion.
“Brave 16” will take place at the Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on September 21, 2018. In the fifth bout of the evening, Pitpitunge will compete in the bantamweight division against Bahrain’s first ever professional mixed martial artist Hamza Kooheji, 25.
Hailing from Kapangan, Benguet , Pitpitunge made his Brave CF debut at “Brave 10: The Kingdom Rises” at the King Hussein Sports City in Amman, Jordan on March 2, 2018. Unfortunately, he was submitted by Jalal Al Daja, 31, of Jordan via triangle choke.
After the loss to Al Daja, Pitpitunge is competing in Brave CF for the second time. The veteran from Team Lakay has 15 fights in his professional MMA career winning 9.
A win at “Brave 16” is important for Pitpitunge as he is riding a three-bout losing streak. The last time he won in the cage was on June 13, 2015 when he knocked out his Filipino-American opponent Alvin Cacdac, 35, of San Jose, California, United States via punches at “Pacific Xtreme Combat 46.”
The win over Cacdac was followed by two consecutive losses in the PXC cage for Pitpitunge. The Team Lakay fighter lost to his compatriot Jenel “The Demolition Man” Lausa, 30, a former UFC fighter, via split decision at “Pacific Xtreme Combat 51” on January 16, 2016.
On March 18, 2016, Pitpitunge was knocked out by Kai “Don’t Blink” Kara-France, 25, of Auckland, New Zealand via punches at “Pacific Xtreme Combat 52.” It was the last PXC bout of the former as he joined Brave CF after the loss.
Like Pitpitunge, Kooheji is also coming out of a loss. In the Bahraini MMA fighter’s most recent bout, which was at “Brave 12: KHK Legacy” on May 11, 2018, he was submitted via rear-naked choke by Khalid “The Warrior” Taha, 26, of Dortmund, Germany.
