“Brave 16” will mark the second event of Bahrain-based mixed martial arts promotion Brave Combat Federation event in Abu Dhabi. Among the fighters on the card is Bruno Malfacine, 32, of Duque de Caxias, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
“I have been to Abu Dhabi several times before,” Malfacine shared. “I feel at home there. I’ve competed there a bunch of times and I know how much they love and appreciate Jiu-Jitsu and combat sports in general so I want to honor their love for the sport with a great performance and a submission win.”
From being a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu legend, Malfacine transitioned into MMA. The 10-time 10-time International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) champion is now an undefeated MMA fighter with 2 wins and 0 loss.
Featuring 11 bouts, “Brave 16” will take place at the Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on September 21, 2018. In the ninth bout of the evening, Malfacine will compete in the flyweight division against Brave CF debutante Cristian Rodriguez Jr., 26, of Virginia, United States.
“I have got a lot of friends that live there so I am pumped to be fighting in Abu Dhabi,” Malfacine said. “Everyone I know there is sending me messages and they’re all waiting to see me fight.”
Malfacine made his Brave CF debut at “Brave 11” on April 13, 2018 at the Belo Horizonte in Minas Gerais, Brazil. He submitted his compatriot Rafael “Mini Man” Pereira, 21, via armbar in the first round.
Including Brazil, the U.S. and Bahrain, 16 countries will be represented at “Brave 16.” Two titles will be at stake.
Jarrah “The Jordanian Lion” Al-Selawe, 26, of Jordan will challenge reigning Brave CF Welterweight Champion, Carlston “Mocambique” Harris, 30, Guyana in the main event. Bubba Jenkins, 30, of the United States will challenge reigning Brave CF Featherweight Champion Elias “Smile” Boudegzdame, 24, of Algeria in the co-main event.
