Representing Bali MMA, Stefer “The Lion” Rahardian, 31, of Jakarta, Indonesia had his first professional mixed martial arts loss at “ONE: Reign of Kings” in Metro Manila, Philippines on July 27, 2018. He was defeated by Rene “The Catalan” Catalan, 39, of Iloilo, Philippines via unanimous decision.
Rahardian is looking forward to redeeming himself in his hometown. On September 22, 2018, the Bali MMA fighter will co-headline “ONE: Conquest of Heroes” at the Jakarta Convention Center in Jakarta, Indonesia with Peng Xue Wen, 22, of China.
“My coaches and teammates had seen my weaknesses and strengths in that match,” Rahardian stated. “I am working my way into training all the basic skills I need to improve for the next fight.”
While Peng’s record may not be as stellar as Rahardian’s, the ONE Jakarta Flyweight Tournament Champion is not looking past his Chinese counterpart. The Indonesian contender confidently assured a victory in front of his countrymen at the Jakarta Convention Center.
“Everyone who fights in ONE is a strong athlete,” Rahardian expressed. “There is no reason to expect your next opponent would be any different, but I am sure I will deliver a stunning victory.”
In Peng, Rahardian will be facing a former Chinese Greco-Roman national champion with a remarkable record of 56 wins and 4 losses on the mats. The Indonesian standout knows that he will be in for a grappling battle come event night.
“He is a very good wrestler and he also has lots of experience,” Rahardian said of Peng. “I have never underestimated any of my opponents.”
Peng has made it clear that he will be targeting a knockout victory over Rahardian. On the other hand, the hometown favorite would rather keep his strategy to himself.
“Right now, I cannot disclose anything ahead of the bout,” Rahardian said. “I can only ask for support in my fight.”
