Nong-O Gaiyanghadao, 31, of Bangkok, Thailand has won numerous coveted titles throughout his illustrious Muay Thai stint. The only accolade missing in his trophy room is a gold-plated strap in ONE Championship.
“I want to win a ONE World Title,”Nong-O stated. “The goal that brought me back to compete is to become a ONE World Champion. I want to win the title and defend it many times.”
On April 2018, Nong-O made a successful debut in ONE Championship’s striking-only league ONE Super Series by defeating two-time World Boxing Council Muay Thai World Champion Fabio Pinca, 34, of Lyon, France. The Thai martial artist plans to stick around and participate in ONE Super Series for a long time to come.
“It was amazing to finally compete in ONE Championship,” Nong-O shared. “And I cannot wait to do it again.”
Even if Nong-O has already achieved so much in the sport, he has a couple of new goals he wants to accomplish. He has nothing more to prove as a celebrated Muay Thai competitor but he believes that it is not yet the end of the road for him.
On October 6, 2018, Nong-O is returning to the ONE Super Series ring competing in a Muay Thai bout in the bantamweight division at “ONE: Kingdom of Heroes” at the Impact Arena in Bangkok. His opponent will be WBC World Champion Mehdi “Diamond Heart” Zatout, 35, of Paris, France.
“A victory in this bout will be another step up in my career,” Nong-O declared. “It will push me onto bigger and better things. I am very excited to step back in the ring on 6th of October.”
If Nong-O can pick up his second-straight win on the most prestigious stage of competition against a man who has over 100 competitive matches under kickboxing and Muay Thai rules, a world title shot in ONE Super Series may not be too far away.
