Afghan-German UFC fighter Nasrat Haqparast beats Thibault Gouti at ‘UFC Fight Night 138’

Fighting out of Hamburg, Germany, Nasrat Haqparast, 23, recently improved his professional mixed martial arts record to 10 wins and 2 losses. The Afghan-German fighter defeated Thibault “GT” Gouti, 31, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States at “UFC Fight Night 138” on October 27, 2018.

Featuring 13 MMA bouts, “UFC Fight Night 138” took place at the Avenir Centre in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. In the sixth bout of the evening, Haqparast and Gouti battled it out in the featherweight division.

After three five-minute rounds, the featherweight bout between Gouti and Haqparast was left in the hands of the judges. In the end, referee Barry Gallant raised the hand of the Afghan-German contender, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

Losing to Haqparast downgraded Gouti’s record to 12 wins and 5 losses. It was the sixth UFC bout of the latter, who is of French descent.

“UFC Fight Night 138” marked Haqparast’s third UFC bout. He now has 2 wins and 1 loss in the UFC.

On October 21, 2017, Haqparast made his UFC debut at “UFC Fight Night 118” at the Ergo Arena in Gdansk, Poland. He lost to Marcin “The Polish Prodigy” Held, 26, of Tychy, Poland via unanimous decision.

On July 22, 2018, Haqparast had his first win in the UFC. He defeated Marc “Bonecrusher” Diakiese, 25, of Doncaster, England via unanimous decision at “UFC Fight Night 134” at the Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg.

Haqparast was born and raised in Germany. His parents were refugees from Afghanistan.

Including Haqparast, there are only two active UFC fighters who are of Afghan descent. The other one is Afghan-Dutch fighter Siyar “The Great” Bahadurzada, 34, who is competing in the middleweight division.

Bahadurzada was born in Kabul, Afghanistan. He is fighting out of Deventer, Netherlands.

Among the 26 fighters who competed at “UFC Fight Night 138,” three are of Asian descent, namely, Haqparast, Lao-American bantamweight Andre “The Asian Sensation” Soukhamthath, 30, and Indian-Canadian heavyweight Arjan Singh Bhullar, 32.
