The Netherlands, France and Thailand were represented at the ONE Championship event “ONE: Warrior’s Dream,” which took place on November 17, 2018 at the Stadium Istora in Jakarta, Indonesia. The fight card featured three ONE Super Series striking contests and 11 mixed martial arts matches.
In the third bout of the evening, Brown Pinas, 25, of the Netherlands faced Yohann Fairtex Drai, 26, of France and Thailand. They competed in a Muay Thai contest in the featherweight division under ONE Super Series.
Drai grew up near the ocean, spending much of his time windsurfing and diving. At 15 years old, he took up sambo and began entering local competitions and at the age of 19, he took up boxing.
The French martial artist went on to compete in boxing, kickboxing, and Muay Thai, compiling an impressive winning record. Driven by the desire to experience real Muay Thai training and competition, he relocated to Thailand when he was 22 years old and has lived there ever since, training out of the world-famous Fairtex camp in Pattaya, Thailand.
A two-time European Kickboxing Champion, Pinas has come a long way from his early days getting into trouble on the streets of Rotterdam, South Holland, Netherlands. After a neighbor introduced him to kickboxing at the age of 19, he fell in love with the sport immediately and matured quickly through training and competing.
Pinas has since become a Dutch National Champion and two-time European Champion with his sights set on even loftier goals. When he made his ONE Super Series debut at “ONE: Reign of Kings” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila on July 27, 2018, he lost to Chamuaktong Fightermuaythai, 29, of Thailand via unanimous decision.
Referee Atsushi Onari put a stop to the Muay Thai featherweight bout between Drai and Pinas at 0:52 of the second round. The Dutch contender knocked out his French opponent via spinning back elbow.
Winning at “ONE: Warrior’s Dream” improved Pinas’s professional Muay Thai and kickboxing record to 26 wins, 9 losses and 1 draw. On the other hand, Drai now has 42 wins and 8 losses.
