[PHOTOS] Thailand vs Cambodia: Lerdsila Phuket Top Team, Sok Thy fight at ‘ONE: Warrior’s Dream’ in Indonesia

Thailand and Cambodia were represented at the ONE Championship event “ONE: Warrior’s Dream,” which took place on November 17, 2018 at the Stadium Istora in Jakarta, Indonesia. The fight card featured three ONE Super Series striking contests and 11 mixed martial arts matches.

In the 10th bout of the evening, Lerdsila Phuket Top Team, 37, of Isan, Thailand faced Sok Thy, 20, of Banteay Meanchey, Cambodia again in a Muay Thai contest in the flyweight division under ONE Super Series. During their first encounter, which was at “ONE: Pinnacle of Power” on June 23,2018 in Macau, China, the Thai contender won via split decision.

Sharing a border with Thailand, Sok’s hometown in Cambodia is known for producing top Kun Khmer talent. He is training at Cambodian Top Team under head coach Chan Reach and legendary Kun Khmer competitor San Saoyan.

Sok is a National Kun Khmer Champion with hundreds of bouts under his belt. In 2017, the Banteay Meanchey native became the first Cambodian to ever compete for a Muay Thai title in Thailand’s famed Lumpinee Stadium.

Lerdsila is a multiple-time Muay Thai World Champion. He first began training in Muay Thai at the age of seven under his father’s tutelage and had his first bout that same year.

The Isan native has competed countless times at the famed Lumpinee and Rajadamnern Stadiums and was a Rajadamnern Muay Thai World Champion in three different weight classes. At his peak, he had an incredible streak of 100 consecutive victories.

Fight Result

After three three-minute rounds, the rematch between Sok and Lerdsila was left in the hands of the judges yet again. In the end, referee Atsushi Onari raised the hand of the Thai martial artist, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

Winning at “ONE: Warrior’s Dream” improved Lerdsila’s professional record to 188 wins, 31 losses and 5 draws. On the other hand, Sok’s record downgraded to 221 wins, 37 losses and 12 draws.

“ONE: Warrior’s Dream” Main Events

In the co-main event of the evening, Nieky “The Natural” Holzken, 34, of Helmond, Netherlands and Cosmo “Good Boy” Alexandre, 36, of Sao Paulo, Brazil battled it out in a ONE Super Series kickboxing contest. The Dutch kickboxer knocked out his Brazilian opponent in the second round.

In the main event, Zebaztian “The Bandit” Kadestam, 28, of Arsta, Uppsala, Sweden and Tyler McGuire, 32, of Spokane, Washington, United States competed for the vacant ONE Welterweight World Championship. The Swedish contender captured the belt by knocking out his American opponent in the fourth round.
