Saudi Arabia v Syria: Ahmad Makki, Mohammed Doghani fight at ‘Brave 21: Saudi Arabia’ in Jeddah

Saudi Arabia and Syria were among the 11 countries represented at the Brave Combat Federation event “Brave 21: Saudi Arabia” held on December 28, 2018 at the King Abdullah Sports City Indoor Sports Hall in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It is the final event of the Bahrain-based mixed martial arts promotion in 2018.

Featuring 10 MMA bouts, “Brave 21: Saudi Arabia” is the first Brave CF event to be held in Saudi Arabia. In the first bout of the evening, Ahmad Makki of Saudi Arabia faced Mohammed Doghani of Syria.

Makki was originally set to battle it out against Mohamed Gamal of Egypt. However, the latter did not make weight during the weigh-ins and was replaced by Doghani.

Blue Corner

Doghani made his professional MMA debut at “Brave 21: Saudi Arabia.” He was the only fighter who represented Syria.

Red Corner

Three hometown heroes competed at “Brave 21: Saudi Arabia” namely Makki, Mostafa Rashed Neda and Abdullah Al-Qahtani. It marked the respective Brave CF debuts of the three fighters.

Fight Result

Makki and Doghani competed in a catch weight of 69 kg. The referee put a stop to the bout in the first round when the Saudi Arabian contender submitted his Syrian opponent via north/south choke.

This is the first win of Makki, who previously competed in Desert Force and Phoenix Fighting Championship. Winning at “Brave 21: Saudi Arabia” improved his professional MMA record to 1 win, 3 losses and 1 draw while Doghani now has 0 win and 1 loss.

“Brave 21: Saudi Arabia” Main Events

In the co-main event of the evening, Gadzhimusa “Deadshot” Gadzhiev of Makhachkala, Dagestan, Russia faced Rami “The Russian” Hamed of Beirut, Lebanon in the welterweight division. The Lebanese fighter knocked out his Dagestani opponent in the first round.

In the main event, Marat Magomedov of Makhachkala, Dagestan, Russia and Jeremy “JBC” Kennedy of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada battled it out in the featherweight division. The Canadian contender knocked out his Dagestani opponent in the third round.

Bahrain, Brazil, Canada, China, Egypt, Japan, Lebanon, Pakistan and Russia were also represented at “Brave 21: Saudi Arabia.” Check the complete results here.
