Nong-o Gaiyanghadao of Thailand and Han Zi Hao of China had their official face-off during the kick-off press conference for “ONE: Clash of Legends” at the W Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand on February 13, 2019. They are set to headline the first 2019 event of ONE Championship in the country.
“It is an honor to be here in front of all the media and the fans,” Nong-o stated. “I would like to say, I am extremely excited and happy for this incredible opportunity. Han Zi Hao is very fast and he is a great athlete.”
Nong-o emphasized that he would not underestimate Han. The Thai martial artist said, Through hard practice and training, I have become stronger.”
On February 16, 2019, Nong-o and Han will headline “ONE: Clash of Legends” at the Impact Arena in Bangkok. In the main event, they will compete for the inaugural ONE Super Series Bantamweight Muay Thai World Championship.
“Expect the best version of Nong-O Gaiyanghadao in the ring this Saturday night,” Nong-o declared. “I’m coming for the belt and it would be an honor to be crowned the first ever ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion.”
The chance to challenge for the title means a lot to Han. He said, “I came to Thailand to practice Muay Thai when I was 14 years old because I know the best in the world train here.”
“Nong-o has been my idol since I was a kid,” the Chinese martial artist added. “Now, I have the chance to face my idol in the ring and it is a big honor for me. I want to bring the belt back to China. I will do my best.”
ONE Championship group president Hua Fung Teh also attended the press conference along with athletes Kongsak P.K.Saenchaimuaythaigym, Alaverdi Ramazanov, Shannon Wiratchai, Amarsanaa Tsogookhu, Rika Ishige and Nou Srey Pov. Here is a clip from the event:
