Thailand and France were among the 14 countries represented at “ONE: Clash of Legends.” It will be the first ONE Championship event to take place in Thailand in 2019.
Featuring five Muay Thai contests and seven mixed martial arts bouts, “ONE: Clash of Legends” will take place at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on February 16, 2019. In the seventh bout of the evening, “Smokin'” Jo Nattawut, 29, of Thailand faced Samy “AK47” Sana, 30, of France.
Sana was born and raised in Paris, France and is of Algerian descent. He was 12 years old when he started his Muay Thai training and he eventually became a three-time Muay Thai and Kickboxing World Champion.
“ONE: Clash of Legends” marked Sana’s third ONE Super Series bout. After losing to Sorgraw Petchyindee Academy, 25, of Thailand at “ONE: Spirit of a Warrior” at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar on June 29, 2018, the French-Algerian fighter defeated Armen Petrosyan, 32, of Italy at “ONE: Conquest of Champions” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on November 23, 2018.
Hailing from Nakhon Ratchasima, Isan, Thailand, Nattawut has been training in Muay Thai since he was 10 years old and went on to become a two-division Lion Fight World Champion and World Muaythai Council Muay Thai World Champion. He is representing Bangkok Boxing.
“ONE: Clash of Legends” marked Nattawut’s fourth ONE Super Series bout. After losing to Giorgio “The Doctor” Petrosyan, 32, of Italy at “ONE: Heroes of Honor” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on April 20, 2018, the Thai martial artist defeated Yohann Fairtex Drai, 26, of France at “ONE: Pursuit of Power” at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on July 13, 2018 and George Mann, 19, of Scotland, United Kingdom at “ONE: Heart of the Lion” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore on November 9, 2018.
Nattawut and Sana competed in a Muay Thai bout in the featherweight division. Atsushi Onari served as the referee.
After three three-minute rounds, the bout was left in the hands of the judges. In the end, Onari raised the hand of Nattawut, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.
Winning at “ONE: Clash of Legends” improved Nattawut’s professional record to 69 wins, 7 losses and 2 draws. On the other hand, Sana now has 87 wins and 4 losses.
“ONE: Clash of Legends” Main Events
In the co-main event of the evening, Kongsak P.K.Saenchaimuaythaigym, 28, of Thailand faced Alaverdi “Babyface Killer” Ramazanov, 24, of Russia in a Muay Thai bout in the bantamweight division. The Thai contender won via split decision.
In the main event, Nong-o Gaiyanghadao, 32, of Thailand and Han Zi Hao, 23, of China competed for the inaugural ONE Super Series Bantamweight Muay Thai World Championship. The Thai contender won via unanimous decision.
Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mongolia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Russia, South Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States were also represented at “ONE: Clash of Legends.” Check all the results here.
