[PHOTOS] Orlie Silvestre vs Joel Taduran at MP Promotions, Ringstar Asia’s ‘Rising Stars’ at Resorts World Manila

For the first time, Ringstar Asia of Scott Patrick Farrell and MP Promotions of Manny Pacquiao co-promoted a boxing event along with Sanman Promotions of Jim Claude Manangquil. The weigh-ins for the event titled “Rising Stars” took place at Resorts World Manila in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on March 22, 2019 and the fight night was held at the same venue the next day.

“Rising Stars” featured 11 boxing bouts. The fifth match was between Filipino boxers Orlie Silvestre, 25, and Joel “Dondon” Taduran, 25,

Blue Corner

Taduran stands 5’3″ and weighs 108 lbs. His boxing style is orthodox.

Representing Hurst Boxing Gym, Taduran made his professional boxing debut on March 22, 2013. He is trained by Tacy Macalos and managed by Juan Monis.

Red Corner

Silvestre stands 5’2″ and weighs 100 lbs. His boxing style is orthodox.

Representing MP Boxing Gym, Silvestre made his professional boxing debut on December 1, 2012. He is trained and managed by Raides Neru.

Fight Result

Silvestre and Taduran’s bout was set in 10 three-minute rounds. They competed in the junior flyweight division with Jerrold Tomeldan as the referee.

After 10 three-minute rounds, the bout was left in the hands of the judges. Danilo Lopez scored it 98-92, Ferdinand Estrella  scored it 100-90 and Eduardo Nobleza  scored it 99-91 all in favor of Silvestre.

Winning at “Rising Stars” improved Silvestre’s professional boxing record to 13 wins, 5 losses and 1 draw. On the other hand, Taduran now has 8 wins, 11 losses and 2 draws.

Main Events

In the co-main event, Filipino boxers Rene Mark Cuarto, 22, and Samuel “Silent Assassin” Salva, 21, competed in an International Boxing Federation Minimumweight title eliminator. Cuarto won via unanimous decision.

In the main event, Filipino boxers Kenny “Big Heart” Demecillo, 26, and Michael “Gloves on Fire” Dasmarinas, 26, and competed in an IBF Bantamweight Championship title eliminator. Dasmarinas won via unanimous decision.

Pacquiao graced the event with his wife Jinkee Pacquiao, 40, and their children. They were also with NBA coach Metta World Peace, 39, who was previously known as Ron Artest.
