[PHOTOS] Reymark Jay Ibones vs Henry Lumanan at MP Promotions, Ringstar Asia’s ‘Rising Stars’ at Resorts World Manila

For the first time, Ringstar Asia of Scott Patrick Farrell and MP Promotions of Manny Pacquiao co-promoted a boxing event along with Sanman Promotions of Jim Claude Manangquil. The weigh-ins for the event titled “Rising Stars” took place at Resorts World Manila in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on March 22, 2019 and the fight night was held at the same venue the next day.

“Rising Stars” featured 11 boxing bouts. The sixth match was between Filipino boxers Reymark Jay Ibones, 22, and Henry Lumanan, 22.

Blue Corner

Lumanan stands 5’4″ and weighs 140 lbs. His boxing style is orthodox.

Representing Alliance Boxing Stable, Lumanan made his professional boxing debut on December 22, 2018. He is trained by Jeffrey Cerna and managed by Anson Tiu Co.

Red Corner

Ibones stands 5’4″ and weighs 112 lbs. His boxing style is southpaw.

Representing MP Boxing Gym, Ibones made his professional boxing debut on July 16, 2016. He is trained and managed by Raides Neri.

Fight Result

Ibones and Lumanans’s bout was set in four three-minute rounds. They competed in the flyweight division with Eddie Nobleza as the referee.

After four three-minute rounds, the bout was left in the hands of the judges. For Sammy Bernabe, it was 38-38 while both Ferdinand Estrella and Danilo Lopez scored it 39-37 in favor of Ibones.

Winning at “Rising Star” via majority decision improved Ibones’s professional boxing record to 2 wins, 0 loss and 1 draw. On the other hand, Lumanan now has 1 wins and 1 loss.

Main Events

In the co-main event, Filipino boxers Rene Mark Cuarto, 22, and Samuel “Silent Assassin” Salva, 21, competed in an International Boxing Federation Minimumweight title eliminator. Cuarto won via unanimous decision.

In the main event, Filipino boxers Kenny “Big Heart” Demecillo, 26, and Michael “Gloves on Fire” Dasmarinas, 26, and competed in an IBF Bantamweight Championship title eliminator. Dasmarinas won via unanimous decision.

Pacquiao graced the event with his wife Jinkee Pacquiao, 40, and their children. They were also with NBA coach Metta World Peace, 39, who was previously known as Ron Artest.

Among the 22 boxers on the card, 21 are Filipinos. Check the complete fight card and results on Conan Daily.
