ONE Championship chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong graced the “ONE: Enter the Dragon” press conference at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Center at the Bayfront Avenue in Singapore on May 14, 2019. In his speech, he talked about what makes the Singapore-based martial arts organization different from its rivals.
“We’re not here to sell fights,” Chatri stated. “We’re here to build heroes who ignite the world with hope, strength, dreams and inspiration. We want to inspire the world to dream more, do more and be more in life. I see superstar potential in everybody.”
Hosted by Mitch Chilson, the “ONE: Enter the Dragon” press conference was also attended by ONE Championship vice president Miesha Tate and Bellator MMA fighter Jonathan “Johnny Boy” Nunez, 33, of Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Chatri said, “Our athletes for me are partners in each other’s success.”
“These are my brothers and sisters and people who I will be friends with for the rest of my life,” the ONE Championship chairman and CEO continued. “Their success is my success. I want to be able to help them in any way.”
The “ONE: Enter the Dragon” fight night will take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore on May 17, 2019. The fight card features 10 mixed martial arts matches and six ONE Super Series contests, which are six kickboxing bouts.
Christian “The Warrior” Lee, 20, of Singapore will challenge reigning ONE Lightweight World Championship: Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki, 35, of Japan in the main event. Both fighting out of the Netherlands, Nieky “The Natural” Holzken, 34, and Regian “The Immortal” Eersel, 25, will compete for the inaugural ONE Lightweight Kickboxing World Championship in the co-main event.
Including Singapore, Japan and the Netherlands, 19 countries will be represented at “ONE: Enter the Dragon.” The other countries are Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, the Republic of Moldova, the Philippines, Russia, South Korea, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine and the United States.
