[PHOTOS] Australia vs Japan: Josh Tonna vs Yoshihisa Morimoto at ‘ONE: Masters of Destiny’ in Malaysia

Australia and Japan were among the countries represented at the ONE Championship event titled “ONE: Masters of Destiny” on July 12, 2019. The fight card featured mixed martial arts matches as well as ONE Super Series contests including Muay Thai and kickboxing bouts.

ONE Championship held “ONE: Masters of Destiny” at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In the first bout of the evening, Josh “TimeBomb” Tonna, 31, of Australia faced Yoshihisa “Mad Dog” Morimoto, 28, of Japan.

Blue Corner

Morimoto is training out of Bring It On Paraestra AKK in Tokyo, Japan. He made his ONE Super Series debut at “ONE: Masters of Destiny.”

Red Corner

Tonna is training out of Stockade Training Centre. “ONE: Masters of Destiny” marked his fourth ONE Super Series outing.

Results

Olivier Coste was the referee of the bout between Tonna and Morimoto, who competed in a kickboxing match in the flyweight division. It was one of the four kickboxing contests on the card.

After three three-minute rounds, the kickboxing contest was left in the hands of the judges. In the end, Coste raised the hand of Tonna, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

Winning at “ONE: Masters of Destiny” improved the professional kickboxing and Muay Thai record of Tonna to 33 wins and 17 losses. On the other hand, Morimoto now has a professional kickboxing record of 16 wins, 8 losses and 1 draw.

Countries

Including Australia and Japan, 20 countries were represented at “ONE: Masters of Destiny.” The others were Brazil, China, Finland, India, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, the Philippines, Scotland, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Timor Leste, Thailand, Vietnam and the United States.

Tonna was one of the three athletes who represented Australia. Yoshihisa was one of the five representatives of Japan.
