Fighting out of Davao City, Davao del Sur, Philippines, Genisis “Cobra” Lagumbay Libranza, 25, was one of the winners at “Welterweight Supremacy” on July 20, 2019. The Filipino boxer defeated his American opponent.

Promoted by Tom Brown’s TGB Promotions and Manny Pacquiao’s MP Promotions, “Welterweight Supremacy” took place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. In the second bout of the evening, Libranza fought Carlos “Mighty” Maldonado, 28, of Los Angeles, California, USA.

With Russell Mora as the referee, Libranza and Maldonado competed in the flyweight division scheduled for eight rounds. Mora put a stop to the contest after 2 minutes and 58 seconds in the fourth round when the Filipino boxer knocked out his Californian opponent.

Winning at “Welterweight Supremacy” improved the professional boxing record of Libranza to 19 wins and 1 loss. On the other hand, Maldonado now has 11 wins and 4 losses.

Born in Bayugan, Agusan del Sur, Philippines on September, 27, 2019, Libranza made his professional boxing debut on February 8, 2014 at the Almendras Gym in Davao City. The only boxer to defeat the Davao City native so far was Moruti “Babyface” Mthalane, 36, of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.

In the main event of “Welterweight Supremacy,” Pacquiao fought  World Boxing Association Super World Welterweight Champion Keith “One Time” Thurman, 30, of the U.S. Pacquiao and Libranza represented the Philippines in the event along with John Leo “The Lion” Dato, 26, of Bangar, La Union, Philippines and Jay-ar “Hitman” Inson, 28, of Davao City.

Dato competed in the featherweight division. Still undefeated, he knocked out Juan Antonio “The Wolf” Lopez, 25, of Dallas, Texas, USA.
