[PHOTOS] Cyprus vs Thailand: Savvas Michael, Lerdsila Phuket Top Team fight at ‘ONE: Dreams of Gold’ in Bangkok, Thailand

Cyprus and Thailand were represented at “ONE: Dreams of Gold.” ONE Championship held the combat sports event at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on August 16, 2019.

Featured on the “ONE: Dreams of Gold” card were seven mixed martial arts fights and seven ONE Super Series contests, which were three kickboxing matches and four Muay Thai contests. The seventh bout of the evening was between Lerdsila Phuket Top Team, 38, of Thailand and Savvas “The Baby Face Killer” Michael, 20, of Cyprus.

Including Cyprus and Thailand, 19 countries were represented at “ONE: Dreams of Gold.” The others were Brazil, Cambodia, China, Cuba,  France, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Russia, Serbia, South Korea, Vietnam, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Lerdsila was one of the six fighters who represented Thailand. Michael solely represented Cyprus.

Blue Corner

Born in Limmasol, Cyprus on February 17, 1999, Michael started his training in Muay Thai when he was 7 years old.

“ONE: Dreams of Gold” marked Michael’s second ONE Super Series bout. In his debut, he defeated Singtongnoi Por. Telakun, 39, of Thailand via unanimous decision.

Red Corner

Born in Isan, Thailand on February 10, 1981, Lerdsila started his training in Muay Thai when he was 7 years old.

“ONE: Dreams of Gold” marked Lerdsila’s fourth ONE Super Series bout. Since 2015, he has been training out of Phuket Top Team Muay Thai and MMA Training Camp n Chalong, Mueang Phuket, Thailand.


Lerdsila and Michael competed in a Muay Thai contest in the flyweight division. Elias Dolaptsis served as the referee.

Dolaptsis put a stop to the Muay Thai contest after 29 seconds in the second round when Lerdsila knocked out Michael. The Thai fighter was victorious by technical knockout after an arm injury rendered his Cypriot opponent unable to continue.

Winning at “ONE: Dreams of Gold” improved the professional Muay Thai record of Lerdsila to 190 wins, 31 losses and 5 draws. On the other hand, Michael now has 31 wins and 2 losses.
