Neymar Jr., 27, is visiting Singapore soon. The Brazilian professional footballer has been playing as a forward for the Brazil national football team Seleção since 2010 and for the French club Paris Saint-Germain since 2017.
Seleção is scheduled to face two African teams in Singapore. The Brazil national football team will participate in two friendly matches with the Lions of Teranga of Senegal and the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
The two matches will take place in The National Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. Seleção will play with the Lions of Teranga on October 10, 2019 and the Super Eagles on October 13, 2019.
“We are thrilled to host two matches of such international stature at our iconic National Stadium,” The Strait Times quoted Singapore Sports Hub chairman Bryn Jones as saying. “This Brazil versus Senegal and Nigeria will be a treat for all football fans to catch some of the world’s most skillful players in action.”
It was Seleção that selected the Lions of Teranga and the Super Eagles as its opponents in the friendly matches in Singapore. According to the Brazil national football team coordinator Juninho Paulista, they are always looking for strong opponents.
“Nós tentamos manter essa linha de sempre enfrentar os 20 melhores ranqueados (We try to make sure the team is always facing the teams in the Top 20),” Paulista told the Confederação Brasileira de Futebol. “Quando não, seguimos para os 50 melhores. E excepcionalmente jogamos contra seleções abaixo disso. Senegal é o 20º da lista e a Nigéria o 34º. (Otherwise, we move to the Top 50. And it is very rare that we play against teams ranked lower than that. Senegal is 20th on the list while Nigeria is 34th.)”
On September 20, 2019, the list of 23 Seleção athletes who will travel to Singapore to play with their counterparts from Senegal and Nigeria was announced was announced in the CBF auditorium. Check the list on Conan Daily.
