“Unstopabble” Angela Lee, 23, of Singapore made her debut as a professional mixed martial artist and a ONE Championship athlete on May 22, 2015. Training out of Evolve MMA in Singapore and United MMA in Hawaii, United States, she went on to become the ONE Atomweight World Champion.
For the fourth time, Lee will defend her title at “ONE: Century世紀.” Her challenger will be ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan, 31, of China in a rematch.
Lee and Xiong had their official face-off during the “ONE: Century 世紀” press conference at the Park Hyatt in Tokyo, Japan on October 10, 2019. It was attended by Chatri and ONE Championship Japan president Andy Hata.
“Hi, everyone,” Lee said during the event. “It’s so great to be back here in Tokyo, Japan for the second time this year. I’m so excited for this upcoming match. This event is about celebrating ONE Championship’s 100 events. That’s huge.”
“I joined ONE Championship in 2015 fresh out of high school,” Lee recalled. “All of my professional fights have been with ONE and it has been quite a journey. ONE Championship, the entire team and staff, is just a pleasure to work with. They’ve seen me through the highs and the lows, and everything in between.”
From 2015 to 2018, Lee was an undefeated mixed martial artist. Recently, she faced her first two losses in her career as a professional MMA fighter losing to Xiong at “ONE: A New Era” at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo on March 31, 2019 and to Michelle Nicolini, 37, of Brazil at “ONE: Masters of Destiny” at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on July 12, 2019.
“I’ve grown so much not just as a fighter and as a world champion but also as a person,” Lee shared. “In many ways, ONE Championship has helped me to grow into the woman I am today. I am so grateful to be headlining this event.”
“ONE: Century 世紀” will take place at the Ryogoku Kokugikan on October 13, 2019. It has two parts both taking place 2019 with 11 bouts each.
The rematch between Lee and Xiong is the main event of in the first part, which will be broadcast live in the United States via TNT and B/R Live. It starts from 9:00 a.m. JST on October 13, 2019 or 8:00 p.m. EST on October 12, 2019.
“This match, I think everyone has been dying to see,” Lee shared. “It’s going to be a completely different fight from before. I’ve had an amazing training camp for this bout and thank God no injuries.”
“I pushed myself harder than ever,” the Evolve MMA and United MMA representative added. “I’m fully confident in defending my belt and showing why I’m the champion in this division.”
